1st International Forum of EYP Albania concludes
Today saw Mrs Jozefina Topalli, Chairman of the Albanian Parliament and session patron, attend the closing ceremony of the AdriaForum ´09, the 1st International Forum of EYP Albania. With the national media on hand to record the occasion, Mrs Topalli spoke of the challenges we face in a rapidly changing world and met some of the 75 session particpants from 16 countries across Europe. During the 6-day session in Dürres, they had discussed topics as wide ranging as EU-Turkish relations, the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference, multiculturalism and the threat of piracy to global shipping.
Moreover, the session was also welcomed by the highest levels of government. At the Opening Ceremony, Ferdinand Xhaferi, Albanian Minister of Tourism, Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports, had spoken warmly of the valuable role of young people in shaping the future. Meanwhile, on this final day of the session, the Senior Organisers and Session Board were granted a private audience with the Prime Minister of Albania, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, who congratulated EYP on "this so important event which serves to a fruitful exchange of ideas and experiences among the young people from the entire Europe."
The AdriaForum´09, the 1st International Forum of EYP Albania, provides solid foundations from which to build awareness of the social, political, economic and cultural issues facing Europe, encouraging Albanian youth to play an active role in shaping that future.
