The General Assembly of the 4th National Selection Conference of the EYP Georgia
4th National Selection Conference of EYP Georgia was held with the participation of almost 120 representatives of various academic institutions of Georgia.
David Bakradze, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia welcomed the members of EYP Georgia at the General Assembly and wished them successful work.
The Chairman of the Parliament underlined the importance of youth participation for elaboration of Georgia’s future European course and in the process of integration with the European Structures.
"The returning back to the European Family is a lengthy process and contemporary youth, among them the members of youth Parliament should contribute to this process particularly”, - David Bakradze declared.
According to the Chairman, the principal issue is to returning back to the European Family mentally that implies the perception of Georgia as a part of Europe and considering Georgian society as European Society within European Political mentality.
"The Europe is our choice that does not have any alternatives and your work in this direction will assist our country. Thus, your being here is important”- David Bakradze declared.
David Bakradze also touched upon the topic of forthcoming municipality elections and note that the pre-election process significantly differs from previous elections. According to him, it is a great progress that the attention of the candidates is drawn more to the programs and the work to be done.
The Chairman of the Parliament also positively assessed the fact that the youth master the skills of the civilized debates and expose the academic approach towards Parliamentarism.
Giorgi Khubua, the Rector of Tbilisi State University congratulated the youth gathered at the hall of plenary sessions with the successful implementation of the project and addressed them with a welcoming speech. According to him, the main achievement is that Georgian organization – Youth Parliament is considered as a serious partner in Europe.
"The Europe is the future of Georgia and first of all, the youth should have their say in this issue.The youth faces the difficult challenges, however, the have the privileges as well – to simplify the way to the European Integration for Georgia, to return back Georgia on the European Orbit from which Georgia was torn away several decades ago”, - Giorgi Khubua declared and recommended the youth that with their European aspirations they shall never forget the historical experience in order not to make fatal mistakes.
EYP Georgia selected the delegates for the participation in Lviv and Athens International Sessions.
