EYP at School
The European Youth Parliament actively engages young people directly at the school level. Hence, in some countries small sessions are organised at schools using the EYP’s approach for the discussion and debate of European topics:
- to provide an opportunity to discuss and debate European issues and encourage students to discuss political questions and articulate their own opinions;
- to provide a possibility to deepen one’s knowledge of the issues in question;
- to provide a framework and a practical tool for teachers to include European issues in their teaching;
- to make students aware of the EYP and to provide them with the chance to participate in future international events of the EYP of a longer duration.
Those small sessions often also provide an outreach dimension seeking to engage students that often have not been in touch with European projects before.
The EYP sessions at schools are run by EYP alumni in cooperation with the teachers in charge.
A guidebook on the methodology can be downloaded here.
