7th Latvian National Selection Conference

From 6th to 9th of August the 7th National Selection Conference of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) will be held in Valmiera, Latvia with a slogan „Our future, our decisions. Form the mind of Europe!”
The organiser of the session is Latvian Youth Organisation “Tellus” which is the official representative of EYP in Latvia. The event will bring together over 130 people from all regions of Latvia and participants from other EU countries.
The main aim of the event is to ensure the opportunity for young people to express their opinion and be heard. In the 6th of June the election of the new European Parliament will be held. Wanting the new heads of Europe to value the youth of Europe and their ideas, we are going to involve the 8 deputies of Latvia in the process of formulating the main topics that should be discussed. The event also serves as a selection of the best two teams of 6 people to represent Latvia in the upcoming International Sessions of EYP in Finland and Norway.
A National Conference consists of Teambuilding followed by Committee Work when a resolution that voices youths’ opinion is made and then defended in the General Assembly. During the conference youngsters are urged to take part in the discussion about European issues, thus raising their awareness about these problems. International guests will help the delegates experience direct European citizenship, at the same time raising the level of tolerance and experiencing intercultural communication.
